Sewajyoti’s associate organization, Narbada Devi Morarka Charitable Trust has been running developmental activities in the Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh for more than 17 years now. The trust has adopted a village ‘Rajjupura’ where it has been conducting activities related with rural development. After the trust came into picture, the village life started to change as the organization gave a strong push to infrastructure development inside Rajjupura and in its vicinity. Today, with better roads, basic amenities, street lights, proper water drainage system, and renovated school buildings, Rajjupura is a not the same as it used to be a decade ago.

Narbada Devi Morarka Charitable Trust and its associated organizations, with the help of Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Limited, laid concrete roads inside the village surrounded by channels for drainage of water which earlier used to be collected everywhere in the village generating an unhealthy and filthy atmosphere. The organization made arrangements for street lighting throughout the village. It got the village wells cleaned with active cooperation of the villagers. Abandoned wells were revived and hand pumps were erected solving the problem of drinking water. Villagers were trained for better upkeep of their water resources.

The trust also renovated many buildings and restored those that were left unusable. These included the primary school and the dharmashala used by the dalit community. Public service projects undertaken by the villagers also received financial help and active support from the trust.

In year 2006, when the administration of local junior girls high school decided to construct a boundary wall, the trust readily provided an amount of Rs. 90,000 needed for its construction. A gate was also constructed at the school.

Narbada Devi Morarka Charitable Trust also spent Rs. 35,000 on repair of channels and roads near the primary school. All the experience we gained in Rajjupura was proved priceless later when Sewajyoti adopted a village Badwasi in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan. A sewing and cutting training centre has been established in the village where hundreds of women have received free training. Some of them have also started their own work.

Development work has also been undertaken by Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Limited in and around Dwarikesh Nagar (Bundki, near Najibabad, Bijnor) where the organisation has developed a network of roads and has carried out large scale forestation work. The company is also running Farmers Service Centres in the area where thousands of farmers are getting information, training, seeds and equipment to increase production and improve the quality of their produce. Under a scheme of NABARD, 10 farmers clubs have been constituted providing them a platform to raise their issues. Dwarikesh' Sugarcane Research Centre is also helping them in using modern farming methodologies, getting high quality seeds and increasing their yield.
